Jenny Chen moved to the US from Taiwan after graduating from Soo Chow University with a degree in Chinese culture. She proceeded to earn another degree in computer science and spent the first 14 years of her career in computer programming at NC State and the US Post Office in Raleigh, NC before encouragement from her father to start an Asian grocery 20 years ago. After a few expansions and successful real estate investments, her now full-fledged supermarket chain, Grand Asia Market, has enabled her to promote positive Asian community and economic growth in North Carolina. Jenny treats everyone from business contacts to employees as a friend, and is reputable for treating everything as an opportunity to do more together, including helping local Asians achieve their American dream. She is the founding president of the North Carolina Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce and organizes and promotes local events, including the annual Dragon Boat festival. Grateful for so many active members and supporters, Jenny makes sure that the Asian community in North Carolina stays strong.
